THEFT FROM EMPLOYERS.
A YOUNG GIRL'S GUILT. ALLEGATION OF BLACKMAIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A girl of 47 named Annie Me Walker, pleaded guilty at the Police Court today to having stolen from her employers, Schneideman Bros., £328 Is 6d, between December 16 and January 17. The evidence showed she was a cashier and had altered entries in the daily cash book. The chief detective eaid accused had stated she had given about £l5O to a constable because he threatened to make serious allegations against her. The chief detective said there was not a piece of evidence to prove her allegations. A detective gave evidence that he and mother detective had investigated the allegations and were unable to find any evidence in support, but there was considerable evidence to negative the allegations. Accused was committed for sentence. On three charges of forging orders, purporting to be on behalf of Schneidenan, and three charges of having obtained goods of the value of £4B 5s lid from warehousemen by false pretences,
accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial.
