FINANCE FAILURES.
SEVERAL WALL STREET FIRMS. By Telegraph.—Press /.ssn.—Copyrigtt. Received Feb. 24, 7.20 p.m. New York, Feb. 23. Four Wall Street stockbroking firms have collapsed within twenty-four hours, causing a sensation on the Stock Exchange. The most prominent failure is that of Kardos and Burke, the latter being formerly of the United States Treasury. Several other firms have gone bankrupt during recent weeks, one cause being the energetic action of the authorities to stamp out the so-called “bucket shops,” many of which swindled thousands of people.—Aus.-N.Z.
