TENDERS FOR ROAD WORKS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Taumarunui, Last Night. The Borough Council met and accepted several tenders for road making machinery under a £5OOO loan scheme. McLaren and Co., Christchurch, were the successful tenderers for a ten ton roller /.nd equipment at £1476. The tenders of Burns and Co., Andersons (Christchurch) and Collett and Sons were accepted for subsidiary plant. The tenders for a motor truck and a tarspraying machine were held over. PLUMBERS’ CONFERENCE. Auckland, Last Night. The Master Plumbers’ conference has concluded. Officers were elected as follows: —President, Mr. A. E. Wells; vice-president, Mr. G. W. Key; secre-f-tary. Mr. A. E. Petherick; treasurer, Mr. I. Alexander; representatives on the Employers’ Federation executive, Messrs G. Mclvor, W. Judd, F. J. Ballinger; district vice-presidents, Messrs. E. Brewer (Auckland), G. Coleman (Wellington), W. C. Large (Christchurch), I. Christie (Dunedin), A. Dix (Invercargill), with headquarters in Wellington. PAINTERS’ CONFERENCE. Wanganui, Last Night. The painters* conference concluded today. Wellington was made the headquarters of the executive for the coming | year and the following officers were i elected: —President, Mr. G. Gapes; vicepresidents, Mr. W. Nicol and Mr. I. Wells; secretary, Mr. Sydney Tingey; treasurer, Mr. A. R. Barnes: committee, Messrs. M. Standridge, B. Smith, I Buekmaster, Hart. The next conference was fixed for Wellington.
