ALLEGED PROMISE TO RE-MARRY. I A UNIQUE CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. London, Feb. 23. The Chief Justice is dealing with a unique ease. Sarah Bendix is suing Carl Bendix, sharebroker, of London, for breach of promise to re-marry her. Bendix divorced his wife in 1920 on the ground of misconduct with a chauffeur. Counsel stated that Bendix afterwards re-eourted her, proposed marriage and lived with her. He told her she would get a surprise on her birthday. He telephoned her on that day, remarking: “This is my surprise. WiH you marry me?” She consented, and the wedding was arranged, but postponed. Six days later Bendix married an actress. Mrs. Bendix deposed that after the divorce her husband settled £llOO a jw on her.
