FIRE BRIGADE WORK.

STRATFORD v. ELTHAM. Teams from the Stratford and Eltham fire brigades met at Stratford on Thursday afternoon in the annual competitions. Both teams were very fit, and all the runs were clean and splendidly contested. In the five men wet event, Stratford beat the New Zealand record by l-sth of a second. The win carries with it the shield, which is run for annually, and five gold medals. Following are the results of the runs:— Two Men, Diy.—Eltham 36 2-ssec, 1, Stratford 39sec, 2. Three Men, Wet.—Stratford 29 2-5 sec (penalty 6 sec) 35 2-5 sec, 1; Eltham 35 3-5 sec, 2. Five Men, Wet.—Stratford 29 3-5 sec, i; Eltham, 31 1-5 sec, 2.
