PLUNKET ART UNION.

THE CLOSING DATE. Tuesday, February 28, is definitely the last day on which it will be possible to obtain Plunket Home Art Union tickets. Anybody who has not already taken a chance on the £4OO gold specimen should buy a ticket without further delay. - The price of the ticket is only half-a-crown—a very small sum considering the value of the prize and the fact that the proceeds are to go towards such a worthy object as establishing the muchneeded Plunket Home in Wellington. The Plunket Society, aided by sincere friends and supporters, has made a great effort to raise funds for this home. The i..itial payments have already been made on a fine property in Kent Terrace. Here there will be ample floor space and adequate privacy for mothers and prospective mothers who come to consult the Plunket nurse. Here, too, is a half-acre of ground—a valuable adjunct to the Home which is to form the nucleus of a Karitane hospital. The balance of the purchase money £3OO0 —ds on mortgage, the interest on this sum being generously guaranteed by the Rotary Club, Wellington, for 3 years.

The treasurers of the Plunket Home Fund have now £l5OO in hand, or promised, and it is hoped that at the end of the month there will be £2OOO available for renovation and equipment of the Home.

Everybody who has the welfare of New Zealand at heart will realise that one of the best means of bettering the country is to help the mothers and save the babies. Ea<*li Art Union ticket bought means 2s 6d for the fund, and all who buy can feel that they are doing a wise, generous and loyal action, the good results of which will be lasting and far reaching.

Tickets may be obtained from J. R. McKenzie, fancy goods dealer. Cuba Street and Willis Street, Wellington, and branches throughout New Zealand, and from leading retailers, tobacconists, and hairdressers; also from the Plunket rooms, or the hon. secretary, P.O. box 208, Wellington. Mail orders should enclose stamped, addressed envelope. Donations to the fund will also be gratefully received by the treasurers, Messrs. Watkins, Hull, Hunt and Wheeler, Accountants' Chambers, Johnston Street, Wellington.
