CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE. PRICES EASIER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, FeL. 23. Wool was easier at the third Christchurch sales, compared with the second. There was Bradford, Continental, Japanese and local demand, but America was buying little. The offering of 18,500 bales was not up to the quality previously offered, and partly explained the lower prices. The clearance 30 far is not so good. Top prices were: Merino 17%d, half-bred 15%d, Corriedale 14%d, three-quarter bred 12%d, crossbred 10%d, half-bred merino pieces 14%d. B.A.W.R.A. STOCKS. London, Feb. hl. B.A.W.R.A. has issued a statement that its stocks on January 1, 1922, were: Australian, 365,172 bales merinos and 735,484 bales crossbreds ; New Zealand merinos 2569 bales, and., crossbreds, slipes and scoureds 598,473 bales; South African, 75,208 bales. The total was 1,776,906 bales, compared with 2,521,160 bales a year ago. LONDON MARKETS. London, Feb. 21. Cargoes are firm and some are re-selling. The Ekaterinainglessi cargo resold at 57s 9d. Garthpool resold at 60s 6d, Trelevan sold on Saturday at 565, the Hindustan on Tuesday at 575, and the Glenaanda on Tuesday at 56s 9d; 6250 tons on a Victorian steamer loading sold on Tuesday at 565. Australian parcels 57s and 57s 6d. British gilt-edged securities reacted slightly on profit-taking, but closed firm.
