A telegram from Winnipeg, Manitoba, says Peter Varegin, leader of a strange Russian religious sect known as the Dovkhubras, which has 900 settlers in Canada, proposed that the whole tribe should drown children under ten yean, together with the aged and infirm, aa a protest against exorbitant taxes. When rid of those unable to travel Varegin aska his followers to abandon their farms and wander over the country, preaching the coining of Christ. This is believed to be the outcome of a long conflict between Russian non-conformists and the Canadian Government.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Aasn.
