WESTRALIAN WHEAT CROP. By Tele,»raph.—Pros Assn—Copyright. Perth, Feb. 18. The Westralian wheat harvest is expected to yield 3,304,000 bushels, 1,303,000 below last year’s yield. THE COOGEE HERO. Sydney, Feb. 18. The Shipwreck Relief Society has awarded its gold medal to Chalmers, the hero of the Coogee shark tragedy. TIRTSCHKE MURDER TRIAL. Melbourne, Feb. 18. The Tirtsehke murder trial will be commenced on Monday. AN ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. Melbourne, Feb. 18. Cabinet is considering proposals for defence economies, including reduction of the staff corps by one-third, suspension of cadet training, and suspension of air force development for the current year. Mr. Hughes announced that the economic conference will open at Sydney on Wednesday. Thirty organisations, representing capital and labor, will be represented. MOUNT MORGAN DISPUTE. Brisbane, Feb. 18.. The Mount Morgan dispute has ended. A compulsory conference with the Government decided to increase the subsidy and the Arbitration Court will be asked to reduce wages to an amount mutually agreed upon. HEAVY SHEEP MORTALITY. Brisbane, Feb. 18. It is estimated that 250,000 sheep perished during the recent floods in the Long Reach district.
