DISTRICT NEWS.
TAHORA (From Our Own Correspondent.) This part of the country Is at present experiencing a very dry spell. The grass Is becoming parched, the tanks low, and the roads very dusty. Owing to the change in the market the farmers are a little more optimistic, and the sheep dealers are a little more active. The agents pass up and down almost dally. The Tahora school joined in the excur sion to New Plymouth on Friday. The PAY. train left Tahora at G. 25 a.m., so the children had a long day. The new goodshed is getting its final coat of paint, and ballast operations have commenced between Tahora and Kohuratahi, so this portion of the line should soon be handed over to the Railway Department. Rumor has it that public works operations are likely to be pushed on past Tahora. The Tahora people are hoping it is true.
