BRITISH NATIONALITY.
WAITING FOR DOMINIONS. By Telegraph.- -Press Assn.—Copyrtttt. London, Feb. 16. Mr. Chamberlain, in the House of Commons, replying to Mr. Hopkins regarding the proposed amendment to the British nationality status in the Aliens Act, 1914, said replies had not been received from all the Dominions. He was endeavoring to secure their concurrence. Mr. Chamberlain was asked if the concurrence could not be telegraphically requested, and said: “I think we must treat the Dominions with becoming respect. It is improper to hurry them unduly.’’ Mr. Hopkins asked: “Has not this matter been going for years?” Mr. Chamberlain said: “The self-govern-ing Dominions are self-governing. We cannot dictate to them. They must be allowed to answer in their own time. It is important that there should be uniform legislation regarding this matter throughout the Empire.”
