SWIMMING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A committee meeting of the New Plymouth Club was held last night. A communication was received from the Wanganui Swimming Centre in connection with the proposed visit of Miss Hoeft, 100 yards New Zealand lady champion swimmer. Miss Hoeft is considered one of New Zealand’s leading lady swimmers, and competed with imucli success at the New Zealand championships recently held. A programme was drawn up in the event of Miss Hoeft’s visit taking place. Details will b.e published later. In connection with the last inter-dub carnival, the treasurer 'submitted a balanceshete, which showed a satisfactory credit balance. The club is indebted to the following donors of trophies: Messrs. VV. Lawry, W. 'W. Stephenson, Quinn and Kenny, J. Abbott, E. Whittle, T. Furlong, McEwen Bros., F. C. Ferry, J. Bennett, and J. J. Lomas. GIRLS’ PERFORMANCES. Ti e following are the results of the Central School girls’ long-distance swimming contests which were held at the municipal baths on Wednesday morning. Some of tlie girls attending the school were unable to compete owing to sickness and colds. As will be seen from tlie results, the distances are very creditable for young girls. The top distance, swum by Miss I. Kingston, was 2466 2-3 yards, or necrly a mile and a half, while no fewer than sty other girls succeeded in reacting four figures:— I. Kingston 2466 2-3 yards, L.
