CROQUET.
TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. YESTERDAY'S PLAY. The Taranaki croquet tournament was continued yesterday In perfect weather. The various rounds are now nearing the final stages, and to-day and to-morrow, the last two days, should provide some Interesting matches. The handicap singles have already been completed, Mrs. Bennett winning from scratch. Mrs. Ogle (2) was the runner.-up. To-day and to-morrow the championship singles and doubles will be decided by the best out of three games, and the teams matches will be decided iu a similar manner. Yesterday a time limit was enforced in the handicap doubles, play being limited to two hours, the players holding the highest points at the expiration of that time to take the match. This morning a teams match, Fitzroy 4 v. Hawera 5, will take place, and the final of the handicap doubles will be played on the Park No. 4 lawn at 9 a.m., those remaining in being Mrs. Elliot (scr.) and Mrs. Waters (1) v. Mrs. Harrison (scr.) and Miss Norman (scr.). Following are the results of yesterday's play: HANDICAP DOUBLES. Me£dames* Elliott (scr.) and Waters (1) 26 beat Mesdanies Cowern (2) and Campbell (2) 24.
