The Lower House of Convocation of Canterbury, by 60 votes to 58, adopted a resolution permitting qualified and approved women to speak and pray at meetings in consecrated buildings, excepting regular chureh services. The discussion provoked vehement opposition, many clergy declaring that the admission of women would rend the church in twain.
