BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.* By Telegraph Pr*’-- Association Auckland, Last Night. The Education Board has reaffirmed Its decision not to permit the Nelson system-of Bible instruction in the Rotorua schools. FREEZING DISPUTE SETTLED. Christchurch, Last Night. The dispute between Borthwick’s, Ltd., and their employees at the Belfast freezing works has been settled, and all the men will resume to-morrow morning. A compromise was arranged through the Labor Department, which advised both parties, and acted as mediator. JEWELLERS’ CONFERENCE. Palmerston N., Feb. 15. The jewellers’ conference elected the following delegates to the central executive:—Gerrard, president (Palmerston North); Heineman, treasurer, reelected; Benton (Auckland), Smith (Canterbury), Lloyd (Taranaki), Heineman (Napier and Gisborne). Gillies (Greymouth, Nelson and Marlborough), Watt (Palmerston North, Wellington, Feilding and Foxton). INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS. / Wanganui, Feb. 15. The annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Architects openea here this morning, between 30 and 40 delegates assembling under the presidency of Mr. R. Ford (Wanganui). The delegates were given a civic welcome by the Mayor prior to the commencement of the proceedings. ARBUCKLE REMANDED. Wellington, Feb. 15. John Aibuckle, who is charged with the embezzlement of the moneys of the Miners’ Union, was again before the Magistrate’s Court to-day and was further remanded for a week. His bail was renewed. BETTER MILLING WHEAT WANTED. Dunedin, Feb. 15. The Master Bakers’ Conference carried a resolution that it be a recommendation to the incoming executive to get into touch with the Minister of Agriculture with regard to growing a better selection of wheat for milling.
