THE RAND STRIKE.
BIG LOSS IN WAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Capetown, Feb. 14. The loss in wages to strikers to date is estimated at £1,250,000. The strike is unaltered. The bulk of the strikers are obviously awaiting the opening of Parliament, while the commando system is preventing breakaways. LACK OF ENGINE DRIVERS. STOPS WORK AT MINES. Capetown, Feb. 14. An international Socialist, Andrews, has been arrested for inciting to violence. The strikers are still trickling back to the East Rand. On Monday over 100 returned, but work is hampered by want of engine-drivers. The position is otherwise unchanged. Men are prevented from returning to the other mines, and work is impeded by the want of engine-drivers.
