WAGES INCREASES.

UPWARD MOVEMENT OF BASIC RATES. During the discussion in the House of Representatives of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment, mention has been made of the wages inxjreases granted since 1914, and there has been an implication that such increases have been confined to bonuses. According to information supplied to the Wellington Post by a correspondent who vouches for the accuracy of his research, there have been substantial increases in the actual basic rate in many trades.
