A STRIKE SETTLED.
WATERSIDERS GIVE IN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Nigin The men, 25 in number, who work on Thursday in unloading phosphates from the steamer Glaucus pt Lyttelton resumed to-day. The strike \v as for an additional 6d an hour over the award rate on the ground that the phosphate, which is bagged, was unusually dirty and dusty, and that much had been spilled. The men accepted an offer of 2s 9d an hour on Friday, but demanded payment for the time they had been standing off. This the employers' representatives refused. The men decided to-day to waive the claim for Friday’s time spent idle, and work is proceeding satisfactorily.
