SWIMMING.

LADIES’ LIFE-SAVING SPORTS. Fine weather favoured the first swimming sports held by the New Plymouth Ladies’ Life-Saving Club at the municipal baths on Saturday* afternoon. His Majesty the King is patron of the Royal LifeSaving Society, of which the N.P.L.L.S. Club is a branch, and the National Anthem was sung before commencing the sports, which were highly successful. There were good entries for all events. Results:— Breast and buckstroke race. —'Miss A. Smalley 1, Miss P. Bcrridge 2. Diving.—Miss Mather 1, Miss A. Smalley 2, Miss R. Aitken 3. Object Diving.—Miss O. Penman 1, Miss Mather 2. Miss A. Smalley 3. Obstacle race.—Miss R. Aitken 1, Miss Mather 2.
