AN IMPROVED POSITION. NORTH SHOWS A PROFIT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The railway returns show an improved financial position. Wtiile the South Island lines still show that expenditure (£2,149308) exceeds the revenue ( £l,979,178) (the North Island proper hiu increased so as to make the total figaffts for the Dominion show a auralne nf £148,784. The North Island revenue is £3,041,830 and the expenditure £2,723,016.
