LONDON WOOL SALES The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. have received the following cablegram from ttelr London house under date 2nd instant :4- ; Wool Sales.—The sales dosed finally today. As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are higher by about 10. per. eont. for crossbred lambs, fine and medium crossbred slipe, and medium scoured crossbred; about 15 to 20 per cent, higher for greasy merino; about 10 to 15 per cent, higher for medium greasy crossbred, merino launbs, scoured merino and fine scoured crossbred; about 5 to 714 per cent, higher for coarse crossbred, and about 15 per cent, higher for fine greasy crossbred. America is buying suitable lots of merino.

Average current London value of the undernoted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool: Good merino 20d, medium merino 17%d, inferior merino 14d, fine crossbred 16d, medium crossbred 9d, coarse crossbred (40’s) 6%d, coarse crossbred (36'a) 6d.

WAIKATO STOCK MARKET.

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report:— At Hamilton on Tuesday, January 31, the entry of beef was smaller than usual and lacking in quality. Values were on a par with rdeent sales. A small entry of store cattle met with a ready sale. The sheep pens were, well filled, and in keeping with the improvement in export values; We report a further rise over last week’s increased prices, freezing buyers competing freely r.nd securing the bulk of the mutton. There was also brisk bidding for all store sheep, rape lambs creating keen competition. Bacouers sold at recent values while porkers and- stores were slightly better.

We quote: Small fat steers to £5 7s (no heavy or prime cattle penned), prime fat cows £3 10s to £4- 19s, others £2 7s to £3 ss, 3%-year fresh conditioned steers to £4 3s, others same ages but mixed cal vers ‘£3 10s to £3 14s, store cows £1 to £.l &s, calves 13s to £1 4s for quality heifers, nulls £1 10s to £2, prime fat wethers 17s to f l 9» 3d, good fat wethers 15a 6d to 16s 6d, lighter 14s to 15s 3d. The fat ewes penned were excellent quality, all making from 12s 6d to 14s 2d. A pen of 20 prime mixed 2-tooths realised 19s 9d, best forward lambs for rape Ils 7d to 12s lid, good store lambs 7s to 9s, others 6s 4d to 7s, a. line of mixed age breeding ewes Us, 2-tooth ewes 13s sd, baconera £2 .to £2 os, porkers 10s to £2, good slips 15s to £il Bs, weauers 5s 8d to 9s.
