Speaking at Wooliongong, Mr. Dooley, referring to the demand for a reduction of wages, said the Government took the stand that prices of money, profits and rent must first come down. Payment for labor was the last to go up, yet people wanted, it to be the first to come down. This was manifestly unfair, and most emphatically the Government would not stand for
COMMONWEALTH TRADE. Sydney, Feb. 4. The Commonwealth exports for the six months ended December 31 last were valued at £57,967,000, and the imports at £44,410,000. THE BASIC WAGE. Sydney, Feb. 4. Argument on the question whether the Board of Trade has power to review the basic wage has concluded. Decision was reserved. THE SYDNEY SEAT. Sydney, Feb. 4. The trouble over the selection of a Labor candidate for the Sydney seat has* developed a new phase. The executive of the Labor Party has rescinded its previous decision, which excluded Mr. MeGirr, and decided to hold a fresh ballot next week. A big crowd of unionists besieged the building while the executive were conferring.
