CANTEEN FUNDS CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ST’" Wellington, Feb. 2. Mr. Justice Hosking gave judgment ,in the canteen funds case of Powles and others v. Mason, in an action to recover £1227, plus interest, for which defendant was alleged to have come under liability by reason of fraudulent conduct. The Court exonerated defendant of fraud, but ordered him to pay for four tanks which had been supplied to defendant’s order, at a cost of £34, and paid for by tbe canteen’s management committee. GARDENERS’ UNION. Christchurch. Feb. *2. The Gardeners’ Union conference drew up rules for the New Zealand Gardeners’ Association of Workers, and completed claims for a Dominion award, and decided to take steps to retain uniformity of conditions of work for gardeners in various industrial districts.
