SPIRITUALISM.

(Published by Arrangement.; Sir, —That Spiritism is a wondet working power we do not for a. moment deny. We have seen wonders, and coH fess most candidly that it is one of th« greatest wonders of the age. Its growtk is remarkable with millions upon milklions of adherents, high and low, rich and poor, learned and illiterate. “But*'it is a lying wonder!” My own brother was a medium, but to-day is a Seventh Day Adventist Minister. Spiritism is nothing more *or less than the logical outcome of believing a lie. Its whole structure is built upon what the serpent said to the woman, viz, “Thou shalt not surely die.” (Gen. 3; 4). This is the foundation stone of almost every false system of worship in the world. Indeed, the savage Indian, who fondly hopes that at death his conscious spirit departs to the happy hunting-ground; the modern Spiritualist, who converses with what purports to be the spirit of his friend; and that large class of people of whom the Japanese are representatives, who fight bloody battles under the supposed direction of their dead ancestors, all build their faith upon th© first deception of the devil —Satan's first lie. This ii an ancient practice. Paul speaks of it—“Jannes and Jambres they were the devil’s mediums that withstood Moses (Tim. 3).” Of these two demon possessed men it stands written: “They resisted the truth; men of corrupt minds reprobate concerning the faith.” The idea of reprobate means void of judgement concerning faith. The faith of the Bible teacher that in the last days Satan will work with various miracles and tokens and delusive marvels, for so Satan works and by every kind of wicked deception for those who are on their way to perdition because they did not welcome into their hear s the love of the truth so that they might be saved; hence they believe the lie, In order that all may come under judgment who nave refused to believe the truth and have taken “pleasures in unrighteousness.” (11 Thess. 2; 9-12.) Again, I read from the pen of Spiritism, “Let the orthodox reader rid his mind of the idea that the devil possesses even half the power attributed to him.” Spiritism makes God a liar. The voice of God in His book the Bible says: “That Satan will work with all I power and signs and lying wonders, and I by every kind of wicked deception for ’i those who are on their way to perdition, i because they did not welcome into their | hearts the love of the truth so that ■' they might be saved.” Reader, which will you accept, the sophistry of Satan, Satan’s lie, or the loving warning against it? “That comes from the Lord (lod of truth.” “God that cannot He.” PASTOR L. CURROW,
