CANTERBURY PRODUCE MARKETR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Harvesting was proceeding busily until rail set In on Thursday. Farmers were more concerned during the week in reaping thaa selling, and consequently there was little business In the city. The rain will be beneficial. to the late potatoes, peas and other green crops, and unless muggy, rainy weather follows no damage to cereals should result. A few lines of wheat came in during the week. Some samples were light and shrivelled on account of the dry summer, but others appeared to be quite as good as last year's. After a little stir Inst week on account of Australian Inquiry, the oat market has again quietened, and there Is no alteration in the normal price of 2s 2d to 3s 4d for Gartons. As there is plenty of green feed available there is no demand for chaff. Some business has been effected in the hew season's rye grass. The accepted offerr for perennial and station range from 2s to 3s 3d. Cocksfoot is also coming In steadily. There has been a wide range in quality, and sales have been effected at from 4d to There have not been many offerings of po tatoes, and inquiry is slack, the regular North Island distributors being apparently inclined to hold off at present. There are frosh reports of blight in Canterbury. Only a few early lots of onions have been marketed.
