A PARLIAMENTARY FUNCTION.
PRESENTATION TO MR. SEDDON. ON APPROACHING MARRIAGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. One of the most pleasant and successful functions ever held in connection with Parliament was celebrated this evening. During the supper adjournment members of both Houses and of all parties gathered in Bellamy’s to mark their regard for Mr. T. Y. Seddon and congratulate him upon his approaching marriage with Miss I. Wood. The Prime Minister presided, and in a happy speech expressed his appreciation of Mr. Seddon’s many good qualities, and in the name of the members presented him with a handsome entree dish.
Sir Frederick Lang, Messrs. Wilford and Holland followed. Sir Thomas Mackenzie represented the Legislative Council, and Mr. Ngata epoke on behalf of the Maori race. All speakers voiced the affection and high esteem in which the guest of the evening is held. After a fitting acknowledgement had been made by the recipient, his health was enthusiastically drunk, and the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a memorable evening to a close.
