AN INVESTIGATION STARTED. CELEBRATIONS CANCELLED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 31, 7.30 p.m. Washington, Jan. 30. The Congress and foreign diplomats were deeply stirred in regard to the cinema tragedy. The French, Japanese and Dutch diplomatic corps sent letters to Mr. Hughes expressing their sorrow, while a resolution was introduced in the Senate and House calling for an investigation. The Federal Grand Jury began an investigation on the spot while the rescuers continued digging, which was carried on for thirty-six hours without a pause.
