Received Jan. 31, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, Jan. 30, Lieutenant Ditvman, who was sentenced by the Leipzig Court for sinking the Llandovery Castle, has escaped from the Lam'burg gaol with the assistance of the same gang of former U-boat officers who recently helped Boldt to escape. Dittman enjoyed special privileges. After his warder had been bribed he scaled the prison wall and jumped into a waiting motor car. The Government is offering a reward for Dittman’s recapture.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
