Volzke Bros, had the misfortune to strike a very knotty log. Time 26 2-ssecs. Raetihi Axemen’s Cup Handicap Chop, 15in. Standing Block. —C. Volzke (16secs.) 1, A. Hitchens (23secs.) 2, J. Richardson (6secs.) 3. Won easily. Volzke chopped confidently from the start, giving a very fine exhibition of chopping. Time Imin. 7secs. World’s Single Handed Sawing Championship 2ft. Block. —S. Woodward 1, J. Neal 2, C. Volzke 3. This was another very close finish. Woodward, the champion, just caught the other two men in the last few strokes.
