President Chiang has announced that he has granted Premier Liang leave of aljsence, appointing the Foreign Minister, Dr. Yen, as Acting-Prime Minister. In this is seen the success of General Wu Pei-fu’s move to oust Liang, whose definite resignation is expected shortly. A movement has been started throughout China to raise funds for the purchase of the Shantung railway. The leaders of the movement have presented to the President a recommendat ion that a domestic loan of thirty million yen be raised for the purpose.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
