PREMIER’S DOWNFALL LIKELY. PURCHASE OF SHANTUNG RAILWAY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright Peking, Jan. 25. President Chiang has announced that he has granted Premier Liang leave of aljsence, appointing the Foreign Minister, Dr. Yen, as Acting-Prime Minister. In this is seen the success of General Wu Pei-fu’s move to oust Liang, whose definite resignation is expected shortly. A movement has been started throughout China to raise funds for the purchase of the Shantung railway. The leaders of the movement have presented to the President a recommendat ion that a domestic loan of thirty million yen be raised for the purpose.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
