INGLEWOOD.

BOY SCOUTS SPORTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.)Jan. 27. The weather for ♦ the Boy Scouts championship sports gathering at Inglewood on Thursday was decidedly unfavorable, though the heavy raiji of the night before had laid tne dust most effectually. The attendance was very much smaller than the occasion warranted. Amongst the visitors were three from an unexpected quarter — - Scoutmaster Mason, of Lower Hutt, with two scouts which have been makj ing a holiday trip on a motor cycle and side-car, with camp equipment. They journeyed via the Rimutaka, through the Manawatu gorge to Palmerston North, and so through Wanganui, Batea, Hawera, and on to New Plymoutn by the Mountain Road route. When at New Plymouth they heard of the Inglewood scouts’ sports, and decided to return that far on their tracks to be present and make further acquaintance 1 amongst fellow scouts, (purposing turn to New Plymouth, and thence by the coast route through! Okato, Opunake and Manaia make for tlieir point of departure. They had camped all their way proper scout fashion, and thoroughly appreciated the experience as. well as at the same time enjoying their holiday and setting an example that ■ may advantageously be followed by others who are willing to get away from the narrow grooves of ordinary , town life. All this by the way, and 1 by way of welcome to such enterprising visitors. To return to the sports and its results, xthanks to Assistant Scoutmaster J.
