THE H. B. STERLING.
NO PUBLIC INQUIRY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Jan. 26. >
There will be no public inquiry into the loss of the Helen B. Sterling, but the statements of the Captain and Mate will be taken by the American Consul at Auckland and forwarded to the State Department at Washington. The Consul is looking after the interests of the men. He has provided them with complete outfits and their expenses while in Auckland. Many of them shipped in-Sydney, and those who have expressed a desire to return there will leave by the Maheno next week.
