HOSPITAL BOARDS CONFER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Jan. 25. The conference of Hospital Boards passed a resolution protesting against the withdrawal of the Government subsidy to the District Nurses’ Association, and also against the dismissal of the public health patrols under the retrenchment scheme. The proposals were described as false economy, Dr. Fenwick stating that if the women patrols were cut off a few thousand pounds more would have to be spent on the treatment of venereal disease.
NURSERYMEN’S CONFERENCE. Christchurch, Last Night. The nurserymen's conference carried the following remits: That the executive consider the matter of registration and inspection of ail growers and sellers of trees, plants and bulbs, and take such action as it thinks fit to bring it before the Minister. That the matter of a Dominion school of horticulture be kept before the Government. That the Government lie urged to arrange quarantine regulations for all imported trees, etc., and that one or more islands be selected as quarantine stations. It was decided to hold the next conference at Wellington.
