BRITISH POLITICS.

GENERAL ELECTION DEFERRED. FORECAST OF PROGRAMME. By Telegraph.—Press Aun—Copyright London, Jan. 21. The Times lobbyist indicates the likelihood of readjustment in the .troubled political situation, with at least a temporary continuation of the Coalition, based on the grounds of the world’s need, with an immediate programme of strict economy, reduction in taxation, and anti-Socialist policy. Mr. Lloyd George and Mr. Austen Chamberlain believe they can re-enlist parties on these issues. Mr. Lloyd George, has agreed to defer the election on Mr. Austen Chamberlain agreeing to postponing the House of Lords reform. The election will now certainly be deferred until after the Budget and conference.—Times.
