CHAUTAUQUA.

Amongst the speakers secured by the New Zealand directors of Chautauqua this season appears for the second time, Mr. J. C. Herbsman. Mr. Herbsman is described as a veritable dynamo of energy and enthuiasm. Before taking the Chautaqua platform, he was Professor of Public Speaking and Oral Expression at the University of Washington. He left this work for the larger field of the platform and his success was instantaneous. He was the late President Roosevelt’s organiser during his Presidential campaign and in the recent election was organiser of the “Pointdexter” for President campaign. His lectures are the finished efforts of a scholar and an orator, yet even commonplace themes become vivid with the color and warmth of his delivery. His lecture “Corner Stones of Character” will be inspirational in type and will be a fine climax for the series. • Season tickets for the whole of the session may be had from local guarantors or at the booking office, H. Collier and Son. After the opening day tickets advance 2/-.
