BOWLING.

TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. COMMENCING TO-DAY. The annual open tournament of the Taranaki Bowling Centre will commence at, New Plymouth to-day. The entry is a record, a total of 68 rinks being engaged, against 56 last year and 63 in 1919, the latter being the previous record. Practically all the clubs in Taranaki are represented and in additon three or four of the Wanganui clubs will have rinks competing, as well as Waverley, Hunterville, Taihape, and Island Bay (Wellington). The tournament, given fine weather, should easily be the most successful held by the centre. The entries have been divided into eight sections, six of eight rinks each and two of ten rinks. The New Plymouth A and B, W-est End A and B, Fitzroy, and Vogeltown greens will ali be utilised and they are reported to be in splendid, order. AU bowls -Tnust be on the respective greens at 9 o’clock for inspection and play will commence at 9.30 a.m. each day, one game being played during the morning and one during the afternoon. Seven games will be played in each section and these will therefore continue until midday on Thursday. On Thursday afternoon section ties, if any, will be played, to be followed by the semi-finals and final. The green on which these games will be played has not yet been decided upon. On Wednesday evening visiting b</wlers will be entertained at a smoke concert at the Kawaroa Park bungalow.
