FRANCE’S POLICY.

FEELING IN GERMANY, BITTERNESS DISPLAYED. PRESS REVEALS HATE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 22, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, Jan. 21. The newspapers comment on M. Poincare’s declaration of policy with venomous personal hate. Any unfriendly comment in British, or American newspapers is eagerly quoted to show they judge M. Poincare in the same way as the Germans. The Tageblatt Lokal Anzeiger and other journals accuse M. Poincare ot not seeking the fulfilment of the Ver» sailles Treaty, but an excuse to denounce Germany’s bad faith and take further military steps. The Lokal Anzieger genially observes: “If lies choked M. Poincare would have died long ago. He takes up the old humbug about war criminals in order to find a pretext for further sanctions.” Herr Stinnes’ journal, the Deutsche Ailgemeine Zeitung, says M. Poincare forgets the change in European opinic|i since 1918. If he cannot control his feeling! he may hurl France into terrible misfortunes.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. i

ANGLO-FRENCH PACT.

PLEA FOR EXTENSION OF TIME Received Jan. 22, 5.5 p.m. Paris, Jan. 21. M. Poincare desires that the completion of the Anglo-French Pact should follow and not precede the settlement of all questions pending between Britain and France, such as Angora. He also desires an amendment of the pact by an extension beyond a decade and clearly stating that the British guarantee of military aid covers German aggression on German territories occupied by Allied troops. He pointed out that while the Allies occupied the left bank of the Rhine under the peace treaty German aggression can only take place on German territory.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
