PREMIER’S HEAVY DAY.
WORRIES FROM SALARIES BILL. FURTHER CONSIDERATION. (By Wre. —Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister had a very strenuous day to-day. He did not get away from the House until after 8 a.m. owing to the all night sitting on the Retrenchment Bill. He was back in his office before noon and during the rest of the day and early part of the evening he received a succession of deputations representing various organisations of State employees. He listened to their arguments concerning the retrenchment scheme, discussed some of the details with them and tried to clear away certain misunderstandings and difficulties. He found time to give some attention to the work of the House, where various dlaases of the Estimates were under discussion. Mr. Massey promised the representatives of the State employees organisations that the points raised would be considered by Cabinet before the Bill reached its coThirtittee stage. The matters will go before a full meeting of Cabinet on Monday.
