The butter market is firm and there is an excellent consumptive demand. Choicest New Zealand salted is quoted at 130 s to 1345, unsalted 160 s and secondary 120 s to 1265. Australian is quoted at, salted, 118 s to 1245, unsalted 130 s to 136 and second ary 110 s to 114 s. The cheese market is firmer. New Zealand white is bringing 84s to 86s and colored 88s to 90s. NORTH TARANAKI FIGURES. BIG INCREASE THIS SEASON. The butter and cheese received at Moturoa by the Taranaki Producers* Freezing Company from June 30 to January 13 represents, on a butter-fat basis, an increase of approximately 17 per cent, on the quantities received between the same dates last season. Details are as follow: Butter received from June 30 to January 13: This season 116,141 boxes; last season 09,491 boxes. Butter thus increased by 46,650 boxes. Cheese received from June 90 to January 13: This season 64,774 crates; last season 78,613 crates. Cheese thus decreased by 13,809 crates. The increase in butter far outweighs the decrease in cheese when the two ore .reduced to a butter-fat basis, a box of butter representing 501 b. of butter-fat, and a crate of cheese representing 05!b. of butter-fat. A comparison of the quantities in store at January 13 in the two years shows that a much better clearance has been effected this season than was the case a year ago. The quantities aro: Butter, ] 5,749 boxes this year, compared with 38/258 boxes, a decrease of 22,509 boxes. Cheese, 1’5,128 crates this year, compared with 50,638 crates, a decrease of 35,510 crates.
