THE VALUE OF LATIN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the Senate a motion that Latin be a compulsory subject for the matriculation examination for candidates for the BJL. degree was defeated by 14 votes to 9. The Chancellor opposed the motion, saying he was sorry the proposal should be brought up year after year.
