BOY SCOUTS.
LEPPERTON CAMP GATHERING. The Hinemoa Scout troop, under Scoutmaster B. Blackball and Assistant Scoutmaster -C. Mctlahey, trekked to Lepperton on January 4 and established a camp on Mr. F. H. Sampson’s property. The remainder of the week was occupied with routine camp work. On Sunday, the Sth inst., a Scout picnic was held, a large number of parents and friends being present from New Plymouth and Sentry Hill. Later in the day a church parade was held at Mr. Thompson’s residence. The whole of Monday was devoted to drill, but on Tuesday the Scouts again set out on a bush trek, visiting en route the orchards of Mrs. Sampson and Mr. J. Taylor, where all interest in the business side of the trek was momentarily lost. A Scout concert was held at Mrs. Sampson’s residence on Wednesday, and on the following day camp was struck, and the trek back to New Plymouth was commenced. Heavy rain set in on the road, and it was found necessary to billet the Scouts for the night, residents of Sentry Hill kindly providing the billets. On Friday morning the troop started out again, halting awhile at the Bell Block factory, where they were conducted ovex* the building by the manager. New Plymouth was reached at 1.45 p.m. Those, responsible for the camp desire to thank the residents of Lepperton and Sentry Hill, and all those in New Plymouth and elsewhere who contributed to the success of the outing.
