HEAVY FINES INFLICTED. By Telegraph.—Pr*ss Assn— copyright. Received Jan. 17, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 16. Conclusion has Been reached in the case in which two chartered accountants James Dorie Pattullo and Desmond Forde, and their managing clerk, James Alexander Wilkie, were charged with defrauding the Inland Revenue Department by falsifying their income tax returns. Counsel stated that Pattullo. deficiency in seven years was tJS,auu. Pattullo and Wilkie pleaded guilty, and the jury found Forde guilty, strongly recommending him to nitreyPattullo was fined £oooo, Forde £lOOO and Wilkie £3OO, the men to he imprisoned till the fines are paid.—Aus.N.Z.
