CHINAMAN HEAVILY FINED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N.. Jan. 16. Woong Yin was fined £lOO in the Police Court under the Customs Act for having in his possession uncustomed opium. Counsel's application under the provision of the Customs Act for reduction to one quarter of the fine because the Oriental had resided in New Zealand 40 years anil this was his first offence of any kind, was refused.
