CONFISCATED PROPERTY.

PLAN FOR DISPOSAL. BY AMERICAN CUSTODIAN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. New York, Jan. 14. Alien Property Custodian Miller has announced a plan by which 400 million dollars’ worth of alien property liquidated in the United States will be held in America for the resumption of trade with the Central Powers. It is believed that if remittances are now made to the owners of property abroad the German and Austrian Governments would confiscate 95 per cent, thereof. It is pointed out that the United States is not expected to apply confiscated property to pay America reparations, since it would involve con-, fiscation of private property, which would be repugnant to feeling here.— Aus.-N.Z.
