MAGISTRATE’S COURT.. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Jan. 16. Mr. A. M. Mowlem. S.M., presided at a sitting of the Inglewood Magistrate’s Court to-day. Gerald Cottier, on a charge of failing to attend military parade, was fined £2 and 7s costs. Land agents’ licenses were granted to I. M. Kidd. George H. Taylor. Joseph Gibbs, Leslie W. Kirkby, G. R. G. Sutherland. and Henry C. Luke. A wine-maker’s license was granted to Alois E. Butler. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following cases:—P. G. Nops v. C. A. Hopping. £194 18s Sd (costs £5 15s Gd) ; C. C. Davis v. J. Lowe, £2 (£1 6s Gd); Adolph Miller v. Robert Mumby, £3 6s (£1 3s Gd) ; Archibald and Stuck v. R. Fowler, £1 5s (£1 3s Gd); M. M. Bennett v. R. Fowler, £7 10s (£1 10s Gd) ; Newton King, Ltd. v. Fred Lloyd. £3 15s 4d ( £1 6s 6d): A. Leech v. Robert Mumby, 13s Gd (8s). In the judgment summons case Ormond and Son v. George Bennett, .C 6 3s, an order was made for defendant to pay the amount, in default seven days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended for one month. Hiroa Pounamu (Mr. Standish) proceeded against R. H. Phillips (Mr. Thompson) for £ll6 rent for the use and occupation of 96 acres of native land at Huirangi. After the evidence of the plaintiff had been taken the case was adjourned on the application of defendant until the next sitting of the Court, on February 13.
