INGLEWOOD.
BOROUGH COUNCIL. Jan. 12. The Borough Council met on Tuesday, when all members were present. It was decided to urge residents to prosecute prompt destruction of rats. It was resolved to adopt the draft by-law regarding dangerous goods, as requested by the authorities.
The council decided to obtain an estimate of the cost of adopting a bylaw regarding the licensing of taxis. The Mayor and Crs. Spurdie and Gamlin were appointed a committe to take all necessary steps in the council’s interest concerning the money held on its account by the Public Trustee. The works committee’s report was adopted.
The library committee’s action in granting a holiday to the librarian (Mrs. Evans) and arranging for relief service was approved, and the report regarding painting was adopted.
DOMAIN BOARD. The Domain Board met on Tuesday. Present: Messrs. J. Sutherland (chairman), D. T. Egarr, W. H. Eagar, R. J. Frewin, R. Fawcett, A. B. Gamlin and F. Spurdie. An application from the Inglewood Boy Scouts for permission to hold a sports meeting in the reserve on Thursday, January 26, in aid of troup funds, was granted on the usual terms, viz., 25 per cent, of the gate money to be handed to the board. The Eltham Carnival Committee wrote asking leave to give an open-air concert in the borough at a date to be fixed, with the right to make a collection amongst the audience.—Permission granted.
