MEAT POOL.
THE DETAILS NEARLY READY. A FREE LOCAL MARK 1 TT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the House this afternoon, Mr. Massey said he understood that the committee set up to consider the meat, pool had almost completed its work. He had inquired and he had been informed that there would be no objection .to two members of the Opposition being added to that committee, and he had no doubt arrangements would be made accordin B>y- „ .... Mr. G. W. Forbes (Hurunui) and Mr. G. Witty (Riccarton) both stated that their names had been mentioned in connection with the committee, but as the committee was not a Parliamentary committee, but a party committee, they must decline to serve on it.
Mr. Massey said that if legislation was necessary in connection with the meat pool provision would be made to secure a free’local market for the producer. Further, there was no intention of legislating in the diection of raising the price of meat to the local consumers.
