Orders for papers may also be left with thecn. HOSPITAL BOARD. January 10. The monthly meeting of the Stratford Hospital Board was held this morning. Present: Messrs. C. D. Sole (chairman), C. R. Finnerty, G. P. Harkness, W. H. Were, J. T. Belcher, J. O’Neill and P. Thomson.

The Minister for Education (Hon. U. J. Parr) acknowledged receipt of the Board's resolution regarding medical and dental inspection of school children.

The Auckland Hospital Board wrote asking for support for their opposition to certain clauses in proposed legislation on Hospital management. Objection was taken to the clause giving .the Minister power to veto appointments made by Boards, and to other clauses regarding subsidy and valuation. —It was decided to endorse the Auckland Board's attitude.

The Acting-Medical Superintendent (Dr. Sowerby) reported that during December 16 patients were admitted and 19 discharged, leaving in the institution at the end of the month 8 patients. There were two deaths. Five operations were performed. Isolation was unoccupied throughout the whole, month. In her report the Matron (Miss S. G, Beedle) stated that as the wards were recently sparsely occupied she had been able to grant much appreciated holidays to the staff.

The Whangamomona District Nurse (Miss Myers) reported that during December she had attended eight medical and ten surgical cases.
