DEATH OF MARQUIS OKUMA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Jan. 10. 9.35 p.m. Tokio, Jan. 10. Marquis Okuma, ex-Premier of Japan, finally died. For several days the state of coma was so intense that it was impossible to determine with certainty whether he lived or was dead.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
The death of Marquis Shigeobu Okuma, who was S 3 years of age, was announced at the end of the week, but it was yesterday reported that this was incorrect', coma being mistaken for death. He retired from the Premiership of Japan, which he had assumed in 1914 for the second time, early in 1916. He has been described as “the most influential public man in Japan.”
