ANTWERP WOOL SALES. Received Jan. 8, 5.5 p.m. Antwerp, Jan. 6. At the wool sales the total for the two days was 20,601 bales offered and 18,366 .sold. Prices were on a parity with those of Thursday, with more animation. LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 4th instant: Tallow.—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton, £2 3s per cwt; good beef, £2; mixed, £1 14s 9d. The market is quiet. Sale by auction has been resumed. New Zealand Frozen Meat.—Lamb, 7§d per lb; wether and maiden ewe, fight s|d, heavy, 4id; ewe, light 4-Jd, heavy, 3£d; frozen beef, hinds 4’Jd, fores 3id (ox) ; hinds fores 2Jd (cow). WAIKATO MARKETS. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: At Hamilton on Thursday, January 5, our yarding of all classes of stock was small and bidding generally dull. Beef values were lower somewhat than previous sales, steers making to £7 for the best; lighter weights, £5 to £6 2s 6d. No store cattle were penned. The sheep offering were not well finished, but realised quite up to recent values. Wethers made to 12s 6d, smaller, 9s to 9s 9d; ewes, to 10s 2d; others, 6s to 8s 9d. Store lambs, 5s to 5s 6d. Pigs were somewhat firmer, owing to short supply, no doubt. Baconers made from £2 14s to £3 17s; porkers, 31s to £2; slips, 13s to 225; weaners, 5s to Bs.
